Usually it's a combination of the ink dot pattern and the lam, not so much the stock. And won't you get silvering if you lam a matte stock? Or is it a real smooth matte?

    CMYK inkjet is notorious...

It's a tough lesson lots of people in the industry have learned, myself included. As for making things physical... the guy that stiffed me like this told me he would come to my house and shoot me dead...

I think the pencils look really boring, but I want that tube they come in.

Yeah, why aren't the pencils design in the same way? I think maybe Pantone were just being lazy. Bought a container of pre-made pencils, just glued over the boxes.

The pencils are Recycled Kraft paper pencils...maybe they wanted to keep them ink free to keep them as "green" as possible? it'd probably be more fun if they could get the coloured pencils to actually be the proper pantone colours....looks like they just used regular coloured pencils instead tho.

When I first saw this thread I thought that we should all chip in and get you a big gift basket full of pantone related stuff, since you love them oh so much.

I mean...if I remember right, you live somewhere near Boston? I'll even hand deliver it! Now that's an offer that would be pretty hard to pass up...

Oooohhh no. I'm not sending them my hard earned money. But if I found some of that stuff lying on the side of the road, well........

A while back Pantone was having a contest for videos showing the destruction of old Pantone book pages. The winner was some kid feeding the pages into a shredder one at a time. I think that was the winner. Anyway, I just couldn't come up with a videographer in time or think of an appropriately painful death for my pre-2000 pantone books. Maybe they'll hold another contest someday...
