  • Transistor Radios of The 60's

    #1
I've been feeling a bit nostalgic with the passing of another year so, I have been looking at things that were popular when I was born. These really caught my eye.

I'm sure my Grandparents had one similar this blue one. I just remember a blue radio

I would LOVE one of these today. It's got Mad Men written all over it

    Many More Pics

I sure remember those. I had a small, cheap transistor radio that I would sometimes sneak into class in high school. Especially to listen to the Indy 500 one year when it was rained out on Memorial Day, and was restarted on a school day. Those lousy little mono ear pieces.

      I want the blue one

I actually have this one, minus the CD player.

Very cool! I know I'm too young to have been around for these, but still love anything "retro" and from the 20s-60s (yeah I know that's a big span, but I can't pick just one decade that was my favorite).

My Fav is the orange one, of course!

And what does the number of transistor mean? some said two, six, ten?

My gramps had a Mellow Tone on the end table next to their divan (it was never a "couch")
Even though they had a TV, he'd listen to all the baseball games on that little radio.

I've mentioned this before but my Grandparents never had a "couch" either ... it was always the Davenport

No couch in our house either. It was a "Chesterfield."

One thing that was cool about old tube radios, was the warm glow they cast on the wall behind them at night.

Aww, we had a bunny when I was a kid. I loved to trans it out by rubbing between its ears. We also had another rabbit. That rabbit was a bit more formidable. He chased horses....
