Ah, Thank You. Is Toronto considered the "big, cool, hip" city in Canada? Or is that shared status with Montreal, Vancouver, et al.

There tends to be a resounding love/hate on for Toronto by the rest of Canada. People tend to think of Toronto and Torontonians as having attitudes that their city is the "da bomb" or something. The one stop for everything. Truth be told...it is. And I have been coast to coast (save Vancouver). Toronto is an awesome city....period.

Many may argue that....but I lived in a few places and Toronto stands out.

For the record...I think Batman might be able to outsmart Spiderman in a fight.

Wow, really? I had no idea. I did a little traveling through Canada years ago, stopped big cities mostly. Vancouver has the mountains; Toronto the great lake... both beautiful in their own right.

In terms of the city that's "da bomb"... well, being where I am there's no contest...

Toronto has been compared to New York often...."Canada's New York".

I was in NYC in 1989, much different back then.

Haven't checked out the video yet, but as someone who lives right across the lake from Toronto, let me tell you that the words 'cool capital' are not what comes to mind -- at least, not in the last few weeks of hot sauna we've 'enjoyed' around the ol' lake here.

As for movies -- don't forget that Hamilton (just outside the GTA and southwest of T.O.) is gaining quite a rep for being a 'faux' NYC shoot location for Hollywood filmmakers.

I live on the other side of the 'Hammer' (as it's known) and every time I go in there I discover some other 'frozen' piece of architecture. Architecturally, it's more 'old school' than Toronto, mostly because it's never had the economic push to knock down all the old buildings. Funny how economic shortcomings can translate into becoming a prime film location.

Most people only drive through the far eastern end of Hamilton, along the lakeshore -- on their way to Toronto. There you're treated to endless acres of ancient steel belt factories. Charming! The actual city on the other side has quite a wide range of nieghbourhoods, parks and landscape (harbours, the escarpment). The downtown often feels like a slightly dilapidated trip in a time machine, but definitely worth some exploring.

^ I'm with you on that BOB.
The Hammer has always been a beautiful place geographically to situate a city. With the escarpment in the background. The Bay... with out the steel mills is very picturesque

Vintage is a very broad term. Vintage could = Victorian or it could mean1970's. I hope that you and your client narrowed nailed down the vintage era they are looking for.

Yum. I do love salmon sandwiches. The bakery near me do great smoked salmon bagels. It's not a bagel shop so they don't jack up the prices.
