  • Tomorrow Night I will embark on a road trip down the East Coast

    #1
Needed to take a few days off from work before catalog time at work. Grabbed my friend and decided we'd go on a road trip.

    Start: Boston, Massachusetts

Rules: We're not spending money on hotels.

So far, we only have 2 locations.

West Virginia: Ew, I know, but it's just to visit a friend there for a bit
New York City: On the way back my friend wants to go here, I guess it's quite the hot spot, haven't been there in 15 years so I guess I can check it out

I want to go to Florida but don't know any good friends that live there. :/

Impromptu road trip you guys, where the F should I go?!?!?

    Thanks,
    sjdsjdsjd

Savannah is nice, so is St. Augustine.

Be sure to hit Playalinda or Apollo Beach on the Atlantic side of FL!

I've never been on an impromptu road trip. I think I've seen to many horror movies!

Where do you plan on sleeping if you're not forking over money for hotels? Or is that part of the spontaneity?

I'd go straight south as far as Point Judith in R.I. and take the ferry to Block Island. Then after a week of exquisiteness I'd consider NYC. Although BI is pretty crowded this time of year

I love casual, nowhere-in-particular road trips. That's precisely the reason I ride motorcycles (currently a BMW 1200RT). A sleeping bag, a backpacking tent, a credit card, an iPhone and a couple of changes of clothes, and I'm off for a week. Camping wherever I end up every other night, then checking into a motel to shower and wash my clothes on other days. Pick a general direction, point the bike down whatever backwater highway seems to head in that direction and twist the throttle. I meet lots of interesting and very nice people doing exactly the same thing. I love it.

I wouldn't even bother with NYC after going to Block Island. Love that place.

If you're going to NYC... bring money. Lots and lots of money.

PS: Hope you have a place to stay... sleeping at park/beach/subway is not an option.

You can camp at the beach at Assateague Island it's a National park about 20 miles from where I live in Maryland http://www.nps.gov/asis/index.htm

that island is a love affair, far and away one of my most special and favorite spots on the planet (and I've been to/lived in a lot of beautiful places)

that's where we should have our GDF meetup
