The bonus being that I will give my thoughts on the Survivor finale... so if you haven't seen the ending (and want to) and don't want to know just skip that at the end.

Ok.. ok I know I said I said that I wanted to go see Van Helsing but the last 2 times I went to a movie in their first week I had to deal with people, just being @ssholes. I hate Cellphones and phucking teens who think they are in their living room. So we went to a movie that has been out for a bit. And it wax a lot quieter.
Ben Stiller
Jack Black
Christopher Walken
How can it lose, right? What a cast...sure fire hit and has to be funny as hell.
Correct?
Sorry to say.. this ball was dropped. I thought for sure this was going to be a laugh fest. I mean those 3 guys can carry a movie on their own individually. Put them together... instant gold. Man what a dissapointment. Now this movie is not terrible... just not as great as it could have been, given the talent casted.
Stiller and Black are 2 neighbors and best friends that work together at a sandpaper factory. Black is a dreamer. Always coming up wth dumb ideas. One day he comes up with an idea of producing a spray that you can carry around with you so you can spray on dog poop and it goes away...poof..gone. VaPOOrize! Stiller thinks it's just a silly idea but when Black invents this spray and now is a multi billionaire.. a little Envy comes into play. Black builds a new homes across from Stiller that literally overshadows his hovel. Black and his family are generous and never look down on their old friends. But Stiller can't handle his friend's fame and money. In comes Chris Walken who is a bum Stiller meets in a bar after he gets fired from his sandpaper job. Walken tells Stiller he has to make Black remember what it is like to have lose, etc. This is when the hijinx start but it's mostly not funny. Sure there is alot of one liners that you laugh at, but over all... just not funny and even a little weird. All main actors are themselves in the movie... no stretching here. But even that doesn't work. The chemistry is not there at all.
The story is formula. you know that eventually Black will lose his fortune but gain so much more in the end. Also Stiller will learn to deal with his Envy and get past it. Walken will come back into the mix somewhow...but still be his weird self.
If it comes out on DVD...go ahead and rent it. Don't waste your time at the theatre when there is so much more to see. A disappointment... it's just ok.
This week I might see Van Helsing since there is nothing else out that interest me (but for those of you that are interested...Troy comes out Friday).
Ok The Survivor Finale... don't read if you don't want to know.
Big fan of Survivor. I like everything to goes into it and it's a guilty pleasure. I was a little annoyed the greatest Survivor got knocked off so early, Richard Hatch. But he was a target from the begining, any former winner didn't have a chance. But hey, that's ok... it's still fun.
Now I found this Survivor season was great..lived up to the All Star status. It had alot of good personalities and twist and turns. But the finale was anti-climatic. The final 2 were Boston Rob and Amber the hottie. I pretty much knew Rob had pissed off everyone and was not going to win. But Amber rode coattails all the way there. Just a different way of playing... not the way I would but hey.. it worked. However the whole engagement thing at the beginning of the Reunion special ruined the entire finale. Who care now who wins? They both get the million at that point. I will say that this season has been the best for grudges being held. Usually by the time the live reunion comes around fences are mended. But this was not the case. Big Tom was more then pissed at Rob for being blindsided and Jerri was so upset (it seemed) that she has to leave during a commercial break. Great drama... my wife eats it up (she's a reality show freak).
Now we get to see my 2nd favorite reality show... Big Brother. Starts July 6th. Can't wait for that and one day when I finally get a camcorder I plan on applying. Seems like a hoot.
