  • Media Releases & Image Check In!

    #1
All contributors, please send a copy of any Image, Word Doc/Text Doc, PDF, etc that you have created to donations@cause4design.com

These are to be placed on a "Media" page on the Cause4Design website. They will be completely downloadable for anyone to print out, place on websites, or submit to newspapers/magazines.

All that have media contacts, please contact them about Ana and what we are trying to do for her.

For those submitting to Media places, it would be nice to have anything that appears in print or video to be linked to Cause4Design. Again submit the information to donations@cause4design.com

We don't have a lot of time to promote this, so gather your spirits and push this out!

Jade, I sent you a PM with link to press release pdf and word doc.

Note: I've seen on several of these promo pieces "11 year old Ana". Please correct as Ana is 13 years old.

We can't send out press releases until people visiting cause4design.com can order a calendar from the site. Once that link is made to the home page, we can send out press releases.

I'll start a new thread for everyone to list where they have sent press releases so that we don't duplicate our efforts.

                  Did you do this Balou?

Also...has anyone ever sent out a press release before? I have not. Is there an etiquette for this? Should it be sent snail mail, accompanied by a short cover letter? I plan to get mine out by the end of the week.

As someone who is on the receiving end of press releases for Designer Today I can tell you to definitely not use snail mail, nobody wants to have to retype it. Don't worry about a cover letter either. If you can't find a press release specific email address then send a short note to the general contact email asking where to send a press release. Once you have a good email address send the press release as plain text in the email. Virtually all of them use a CMS so it will format it properly for that publication. Be sure and include a headline and a teaser paragraph which will go on the main directory. The teaser paragraph can be the first paragraph of the press release.

I sent out only one press release yesterday. The internet connection went down right as I was sending them. Will work on that more this weekend.

Yum. I do love salmon sandwiches. The bakery near me do great smoked salmon bagels. It's not a bagel shop so they don't jack up the prices.

It won't stay this way ... but, they have to get all the bugs worked out first and then we will worry about cosmetic issues
