  • Remember when? (Old Fogey Thread)

    #1
Just general reminiscing about the "good old days" thread

Remember when TV shows didn't all have to have some deep mysterious secondary story arc that drags on forever. Your basic hour long drama was totally independent with everything wrapped up nicely by the closing credits.

Remember when the opening credits were shown before the start of the scene instead of 15-20 minutes into the story... and the closing credits after the show ends for that matter.

I remember a time, when you were the coolest kid in school if you had a beeper.

I do, but the problem with that was you could look at the clock and easily decipher any red herrings. Still happens today though, for example CSI, when there is around 20 mins of show left they appear to have wrapped the case, but it isn't until there is about 10 mins left that some new revelation happens and they realize they have the wrong guy... actually the more I think about it, the first guy they haul in almost always is the killer, wow CSI does suck.

I remember when no one had a computer, and may or may not have had a TV, microwave or telephone that wasn't rotary.

Best of all, I remember a time when Nickleback didn't exist.

                  Yes!

or the night Gunsmoke was on followed by The Lucille Ball show

and ... I'm afraid to admit this is public ... but the same occurred on Saturday night so we could all sit down in front of the little 13 inch portable TV and watch Hee Haw

We watched the Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday night. I actually still like the Lawrence Welk Show but it's different not tucked under my grandma's shoulder. The costumes are hilariously wonderful!

Wasn't Bonanza the first show in color, too? Now I feel really old.

Curfew was when the street lights came on.

If you misbehaved three blocks over, it still beat you home.

Sleeping in the breezeway 'cause there was no air conditioning.

Riding bikes with a bunch of friends, it the wake of the mosquito spray truck.

I remember the Wild Kingdom and Wonderful World of Disney Sundays. I had a white pillow and a slightly smaller blue pillow on top to lay on the floor to watch it.

and Bill Cosby sweaters. and Atari 2600 (had colecovision too) and even though you played Atari the fun was out running around or on bikes and riding to the corner store for some baseball cards, bazooka gum and maybe smoke bombs when he had some in stock.

We watched Carrol Burnett on Saturday nights.

                              I loved Carol Burnett too

... and remember when you could dial 9 then your own number on the rotary and drive your parents crazy thinking someone was calling and hanging up

Once my Mother realized ... the phone was moved to the table beside her chair .... no more dialing without her seeing who was on the phone

                                Which Gerber software?
Next question, why not import from Adobe to Gerber. We use signwares often. For output. Rarely for design (though some things are far easier to do in sgnwares over Illustrator...)

I do not believe there is Blur to Halftone button in Illustrator.
Any time I want to do a vector halftone (with dots), I use Rasterbator (bad name, good program)
But maybe what you are wanting...

It's done by "hand". No plug-ins. No scripts. The designer uses their design skills to create ... um ... designs. Take a look at the video and links on this 2012 thread. All hand done from the...

Yeah, the hierarchy is an issue. The "ITD" and how it is rendered is more feint than the items surrounding it. The illustrations are nice, but unfortunately, not really important. I would not...
