  • This week I've been mostly doing design work in...

Figured from time to time we all get frustrated with designing with a program that's not for design! Like Microsoft Office products, and other such things lol.

Well this week I've been mostly designing in Powerpoint and Ms Word!

Problem is - they actually look good

Oh I can't wait to get back to my originally scheduled design program!

Just don't send the files to any printers you want to stay friends with!
No cell phone, no Facebook, no iAnything. Am I missing something?

      Design is not decoration.

I have to work in both at my new job, Word sucks, but Powerpoint really isn't that bad.

Actually they aren't that bad. And they are only presentations for use in-house. It's easier for them to update them when needed.

Powerpoint is great I think - I used to hate it. But I can put together nicely animated presentations that still look a bit classy.

It's not my forté but still turned out great (if I don't mind saying )

I'm not saying it's impossible to make something great with either of the programs, it's just the methods you need to employ to do so are excruciatingly cockeyed when compared to the process of achieving the same things in actual design software.

Excel is pretty fun. Formulas & all that. It's a pretty intense program.

Thank you so much for your input. What you said about Joomla templates basically dictating the look and feel of the site is basically the reason I've held so long to my current site. I have not found...

Reply to Price of Foil vs. Varnish for business cards?
            Biggs097
Keep in mind the cost of the tooling the dye is a one time cost. The next lot of cards wont include the tooling cost.
StudioMonkey is also correct of the cost vs. your volume. 100 cards may run...

Joomla is my CMS of choice. For that matter, I'm working on some template modifications for a Joomla site this morning.

For a small personal site, Joomla might be overkill. It's certainly...
