  • Ever work a job you completely disagreed with on all political levels?

    #1
I needed this job, because it was the only one I could find in this god forsaken city, and is was only for a few months, perfect because I'm trying to save money to move in Feb, but the jobs I have to do make it harder for me to sleep at night. Every piece I end p doing seems to go against every political belief I have. The copy makes me laugh outoud because it is so ridulous. Example. Louis murphy takes her orders from THE RADICAL LEFT Example 2 he co-sponsored the Defense of Marriage Act defining marriage as between one man and one women, and supports a constitutional amendment to prevent LIBERAL ACTIVIST judges from legislating their own definition. I hate it, and I don't want to show a future prespect employer most of these pieces because they are so extreme right wing. OH and MFing RICK SANTORUM came into my office the other day. I HATE rick santorum…repeat HATE RICK SANTORUM. I just keep telling myself it's only untill Nov., and otherwise you would never have the money to move, but it just does not help.

Are you in YINZBURGH (pittsburgh) by any chance? The 'god forsaken city' and Rick Santorum caught my attention.

I had a customer walk in today, and tell my boss that he wants a book cover designed. Well and good, I've done a few of those in the past, but this guy's book is about how the Jews are taking over the world or some crap. He wants a big star of david in the center with a crack going down it and Swastikas all around it. I have never been so repulsed at a design job in all my life. I am going to tell my boss that I STRONGLY feel this is not something we need any part of.

The political stuff I can handle, because it's mostly harmless. But this is hate-inspired, venemous drivel that I will not take part in.

If your boss is taking in work like that I would have to question his beliefs. Sounds like a place you should distancce yourself from pretty damn quickly. Run Forest run!!!

                  Damn Jason that sucks.

Who is going to publish this book? I just want to know so I never buy a book published by them EVER AGAIN. Just goes to show for every ignorant, moronic, small minded, dim witted, low life, scum sucking writer there is an ignorant, moronic, small minded, dim witted, low life, scum sucking publisher.

Jason, there are times in your life that you have to take a stand. This would be one of them.
No amount of money and no job is worth sacrificing your core beliefs.

I know it is tough to find jobs out there, but I would have to question working for anyone who would publish that.

wow fixion, wanna trade? I'd feel the same way if I was designing stuff that was promoting same-sex marriage, pro-choice, pro secularism, pluralism. But thats me, raised a good Christian Boy =). In any case, Jason I'd snap on that customer, we dont need more anti-semetic drivel.

On the other hand, I'm going to be doing a website for a friend running on the school commitee next year, he's 20 yrs old, he's been campaigning for Kerry over the last year, went to Iowa with him in the spring, and was with him at the DNC.

As long as its not to extreme I wouldnt mind doing the projects, but I personally would turn down projects that don't agree with my beliefs, since I'd be a private business I'd be allowed to do that, but I would also refer them to friends more 'open-minded', with a finder's fee of course =)

Actually, we're not publishing this book. A friend of my boss's father wrote the book, and he wants us to do the cover design. I don't know WHERE he's gonna find someone stupid enough to publish this thing. He's just a crazy old man, apparantly, with a bad toupée. Maybe this guy and Mel Gibson's dad should get together and go bowling or something.

I decided to refuse this design job. Actually, I decided not to even consider doing this job.
