Hooray!!! I got another rejection letter today!

I wonder if it's too early to get drunk?

The more people I meet, the more I love my cats.

I usually just don't get a responce at all. I guess a rejection letter is better than that.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice…ummn…you don't fool me again?… (well I guess you do)

I think what really bugs me is that I've been sending out resumes and letters like mad for office jobs as well as design jobs - I had 3 interviews last week - 2 for office work and one for design work.

This rejection was for the first interview, which was an office position that I was more than qualified for. And since my unemployment is running out, I was desperate for the job. And I was asking virtually nothing, as far as pay is concerned.

They even went so far as to give me a packet of information about their health insurance and other benefits. I was *sure* I had this one.

I know what it's like to have something snatched out of your hands like that, my last interview was in May...very good company, very good pay/benefits, very good people (supposedly). It was exactly the job I was hoping to get once I left college years ago. The interview went exceptionally well. The employer said my list of skills was impressive, but he said it's one thing to know the programs and another to quickly work in them. I told him that I could 'walk the walk,' and they immediately set me up with a test run that afternoon. (If it's one thing I've learned how to do here, it's work effectively, work fast) I don't think they would set up a test run for somene they weren't interested in.

So I get a call back a few hours later that they would have to reschedule the test for next week, they were too backed up on projects that day (the employer mentioned they were extremely busy that day as I came in for the interview, so I believed in that). A week goes by, no call...I call to follow up and they coldly told me the position was filled.

You've just got to love it. Employers are the devil.

I'm pretty unhappy right now. Not sure what to do. I've been at this for 5 months now. The 'ups' aren't feeling so high and more and the 'downs' are getting worse and worse. Once myunemployment runs out in a few weeks I'll have no income at all. And I'm already relying WAY to hard on my credit cards.

<sigh>

stay strong, sister. i've been through that crap a lot lately too. had like 4 or 5 interviews at one place. got the test, got the info packet, everything. they were even starting to talk like i had the job. anyway, they say they'll call me either way 'early next week' no call monday, no call tuesday, i call wednesday-not there, thursday, friday-not there. then early the week after that i get a letter in the mail: sorry, but...
whatever, i probably wouldn't have enjoyed working for those people.

...and remember, tuesday is soylent green day

I totally get what you're going through.. 8 MONTHS I was looking for a job.. although I had a job at the time, I needed more money... I NEVER got a single interview. NEVER! No calls, nothing. I'd call for a follow-up on each and every one, 'sorry the position has been filled' Ya, ONE DAY later!!! WTF.

Then I get this call for the job I have now... I applied about 2 months prior to the call. And I was so despreat at that time to get the hell out of the place I was at, I took it at the exact same pay rate. Of course, with room to grow. The last place, I had topped out at pay.

So... I started my own busienss. Just a few months ago. Hoping that this business card swap on saturday will do something positive for the business. Wish me luck!!

Thanks guys!

I'm thinking here (and that's dangerous) that we should all band together and form a monopoly on licensed designers so that people would have to seek US out before hiring Joe-bob Off The Street. We could get the goverment to offer tax breaks for hiring someone with the proper credentials (I'd rather be Morea, G.D.F. than Morea, D.D.S. anyway!)

Of course, I think that this kind of thinking was what initially inspired the dream that is Boobie Island...

I haven't lost my mind... it's backed up on disk somewhere.

yeah this is basically what Magnus was trying to figure out, only problem is, I think it already exists....its called the AIGA, and Aquent, both are kind of a act as a middle man/certificate of badassness type deelio.....damn I talk wierd sometimes....but yeah, basically its already been done, or is so far tainted it would never happen.

When I do get to boobie island, everything will be as planned
