I am considering trying to get some new Freelance work. There are a few clients that I do regular work for (mainly because it's enjoyable, and a little more lucrative on an hourly rate basis than my 9-5), but I'm thinking about stepping it up to make some real extra money as my wife and I want to buy a bigger house, and need equity + for 20% down. I am finally getting to the point where I have enough confidence to do some serious work by myself, and have a little time in which to do so.
My question is how do you guys get freelance work? What I've done so far is just wait for it to come to me, and I guess I'll need to go out and find it if I want to get any more. I don't want to do any really aggressive marketing, because I don't want the work just running out my ears and not have time to meet all of my deadlines (I have a hard time turning work down), but I do want more work. I suppose it's kind of a Catch 22, right.
I don't have much of a point here, aside from just seeking a little advice from some of the forum's more seasoned freelancers.
I really appreciate any advice you could give me.
