  • Starting a company... how to name it?

    #1
So, my CEO and Prez want to start up another company. (my CEO started this one 30 years ago... very successful so he knows what hes doin) This is awesome for me since I am the marketing department and will be in charge of the new website and marketing the new business if it takes off. Not to mention if it fails we still have (as my president put it) our "real jobs" to fall back on. (For those of you who remember me saying I was looking for work because this job SUCKS... I got a new boss and things are lookin up so I'm sticking it out for a while)

Anyway, my boss just gave me a list of possible company names for the new business, anyone know the government site where you can register names of companies or check to see if one's taken?

Check with your state's Treasury Department. That's usually where businesses have to register.

Did you ever find a name?

Curious, did you have a particular strategy in trying to find a new name?

And the issue today is finding an interesting domain name that, of course, is also the company name.

            Best,

            Doug

I don't think finding the name is Jacki's issue, though I will admit that the thread title is deceiving... I was prepared to send her the link to the the Web 2.0 Company Name Generator...
