  • Quark vs Indesign... Need Advice.

    #1
    Hi all.

Upgrading the department to OSX and I am debating to just chuck Quark and go Indesign.
I am Quark user myself and I am a little leary to cast aside the almighty but Indesign seems to be pretty dependable.
What's the best road to take?

Gawd we've beaten this topic to death.
Do a forum search for the Quark vs Indesign (or Indesign vs Quark)
Check with your favorite print vendors first to see if they will print from InDesign. Some are too lazy to figure out what they need to do to make it work correctly.
    Then choose InDesign.
    Quark sux.

              Thanks for all the help.
I'd much rather go Adobe all the way.

The job I have now, I was told over 400 people had applied for it. There's a ton of competition out there. If you're passionate about it and never stop studying it, you can be good. Best way to get ahead...

Oh yes, left-hand binding. I'd never do it along the top. Awkward.

A flexible set-up for your portfolio will be more efficient in the long-term IMO. You will be able to customize your portfolio pieces to the sector for which you are applying.

I would say landscape portfolios are pretty common. +1 for binding on the left-hand versus the top.

Demand? No. The market is over-saturated. Just curious, what is it about Graphic Design that interests you? Why do you think you want to pursue it?
