  • Business Card Recreation Pricing

    #1
I have a client that is requesting a quote on this business card. I am unsure of what to charge and I am just starting up. I have worked in desktop publishing for 4 years but don't really know the going rates. Let me know your opinions! Thanks!!

Well im not sure what you mean...but let me plain and simple for ya. Business cards can swing both ways, hourly, or quote. I normally charge $50.00 US to do just the layout of a card and graphics if they want them. But you can also charge hourly if you wish. If you were to charge hourly, I would say roughly $10 an hour, maybe $20...depends on how much detail they want, and if you will be doing all the custom graphics like the cars....if that is the case then stick to hourly or you will lose in the end.

Hope that helps, welcome to the GDF

hehe, well 3howards...im kinda sensing the 'new designer' with this one, so I made the price cheap....hell I was making 11.50 at my last job doing design, pretty common for entry level.

yeah, but 4 years isn't exactly entry level, ya know. hehe, i made $12.50 at a print shop just starting out in the printing side of things. i work for myself now and charge between $75 to $120 an hour. gotta pay bills.

That looks like clipart. Especially since the 'logo (dom casual? yechhh - not a logo)' is such a different style than the cars. 10 bucks is fair for a whack of clipart and a bad font choice.

I'd tell him that to redraw the cars would be about $2500.

To design a completely different card (a good one) would be about $75 - Oh, and use clipart cuz they don't seem to care.

Ok, if it is clip art...where do you guys think I could find cars that look like that? Otherwise I have to redraw the whole thing. They have nothing but the original sample to go by and that is crap. Let me know if you guys have seen something like those cars before. Thanks!
