My boss told me that there basically isn't a budget to get the intern a computer, so... He said if I can find something in the $200-$400 range to get us by until this new venture proves to be profitable that we could do that. Looking at ebay there are plenty of G3 iMac's... say a 500MHz/20GB HD G3 iMac with OS 10.3 was possible to attain for that price.

Would that hold up for 3-6 months to get basic printing, layout, & proofreading done?

I know it's a big stretch, & I can barely stomach the idea, but i just want some opinions.

G3 should work. Do you have compatible software for OS9?

Adobe CS is the only thing beyond microsoft excel that will be loaded on to it, i haven't checked the system requirements for CS yet, but I've seen a few G4 iMac's in the $300 range, so maybe I can talk my boss into that

CS will run on a G3 but it will be SLOW. I don't know about CS2 though.

CS will run on a G3 but CS2 will not. In fact Photoshop CS2 will not run correctly without a G4 and 10.3. If you have a spare monitor laying around took into buying a cheap g4 tower. They are pretty affordable and will probably come stocked with a bit more ram that you will need to run OSX + graphics programs.

I could not find the thread (deleted maybe) but I think Patrick Shannon installed CS on a G3 - IM him and ask.

So I been working on logo illustration, and coming to closure I realized this has wayyyyyyy to many anchor points. It has over 617,000 anchor points and the file size is huge. The AI file size is 9.6...

Sorry, I meant use the space they're in now, just to better effect. I like the actual layout of the poster; it's just not conveying the right mood yet.

Fair point. I was thinking I would have to replace the whole thing, but I certainly could keep some works and just swap out as needed.

                  Hello people.
So I'm considering it to study graphics design. I consider myself very creative and open minded but i'm not sure if this is what I should do? I've just Matriculated last year and need...

In regards to style I think it looks...well messy. It reminds me of something you would get doing autotrace. Strange shapes curves etc. I personally would like more hair like shapes. Nice smooth tapering...

I still say go for the screwpost book. It may seem expensive, but its flexibility outweighs the extra cost, IMO. If it's out of date in 6 months, you can spend $2.60 per page to add to it or to replace...
