  • Favorite Design Books for Article Reviewing Books

    #1
Hi all. I run http://www.AllGraphicDesign.com and we need some feedback from designers on a blog article we are doing. (Everyone who helps with this question and gets their answer published will get a link back to their website) My question is:

FOR GRAPHIC DESIGNERS & WEB DESIGNERS:
What are Your Favorite Design Book(s)? What are Design Books that You Have Referenced Over and Over and Couldn't Have Lived Without When Starting Out as a Designer?

Please also answer with at least a paragraph of what you liked about this book or books. Everyone who lists their favorite book will get their name by their suggestion and a link to their website (if you have a website). (We have been online since 1998 so we have high traffic)

Also...for back in the day, the following book was popular - The Desktop Publisher's Idea Book by Chuck Green, pictured here - http://www.ideabook.com/shop/shop.htm - was a great book back in and I remember how much fun it was reading his design recipes, innovative ideas, and templates. Do any of you know of current books that are similar to this book that I can review or that you can review?

We also accept articles, tutorials, reviews, commentaries, etc about graphic design and web design...everyone who sends us items that are published will get their bio along with website information within our sites. Between our network of sites we get more than 20 thousand visitors every day.

Thank you for your help. :-)

Sketching, handwriting and drawing are two different things, so what works in one might not work in another.

Further up in the thread Darkwolf29a and I questioned your use of the <base> tag. The base tag isn't typically used, but it serves as an instruction to regard the URL within the tag as the root...

    Thanks.

I took a look at luxe -- looks good. Looks like it's digitally printed -- would that be as good as litho or letterpress?

Engraving sounds interesting. I'll look into...

Similar, but more expensive and classy, is engraving. Combining an ultra-minimalist, bare-bones design with something as elegant, tactile and expensive as engraving can really have a nice, exclusive,...
