I've been trying to come up with some kind of identity (logos and theme for p.o.s./price lists etc) for a company called 'Renaissance' who specialise in massage and beauty therapy and i'm seriously stuck. It has to be classy but get across the feeling of vibrance, rejuvanation and rebirth... has anyone any idea what sort of imagery i could use? i'm at my wits end!

I was thinking a classical (serif) font with maybe budding vines all around, over antd through it?

Maybe instead of coming up with imagery right now you need to come up with a identity concept. I would began by researching the Renaissance and what it was all about. The ideas behind the time period, the art and culture around that time. Maybe in learning more about this you may happen up on an idea you could use to incorporate into what the client needs for a great identity concept.

they want a modern, minimalist look rather than a classical one... and it needs to scream 'we'll make you feel better'... the actual shop is a little out of the way so it needs to be clearly identified as a health spa type shop from a distance... but i'm just so at a loss with what to do for this..

she's wanting it to be 'a' renaissance rather than 'the' renaissance...

thaks for your suggestion so far though.. i really appreciate any help you can give on this..

The renaissance was all about change and the future. They picked a good name I think. Maybe you should try to conceptualize first. Good luck.

Yeah, think about what the Renaissance embodied as far as ideals and concepts. Jeizzavelle gets what I am saying. Think about concepts and something will come to you.

When I think of Renaissance, the first image that comes to mind is DaVinci's Vitruvian Man. Perhaps you could modify it to look modern. The only thing is, is that it's been done a lot, so it'd have to be exceptional.

Renaissance means rebirth. Go from there.

It makes me think of a nice, clean sans serif. The "rebirth" part might be symbolized by a butterfly. I'm picturing tans and greens - greens to pick up the "out of the city" part and tans for the name. I'm picturing clean and classy, yet open (for the wide outdoors). Some of the structure I am picturing in my mind for pieces like a brochure make me think of Italian country. I don't know if that makes sense to you - sort of like an oft-used wine look (only no reds!) but yet not that at all - classier/cleaner than that.

Edit: You know what you need to do? Go sit outside. In a park, or state forest, with a sketchbook. Get out of the office. It'll help put you in the right state of mind.

minimalist and classy - I would say, find a great, semi-antiquated, delicate looking serif font (I'll start looking for what I'm talking about after work) and just be real simplistic with it, no frills, just that, and nail down a color scheme, I see colors like Pantone 484 with Pantone 134.

you know what.. i never thought of a butterfly... thanks!
i have dictionary'ed, thesaurus'ed, googled and googled and altavista'd and altavista'd and got nowhere.. my mind is just like my car at the moment (the clutch is broken)

I don't even speak any other language when it comes to color. Someone asks for Brick Red - I say where do you live, cuz the bricks out here are Pantone 188, but that's only because they painted them from Pantone 161!

                              people still use altavista ? ? ?

Heck, my blades on my wheels look more like pushmower blades. More cutting surface to "mow down" those nasty zombies.

Any why is that? I'm fairly new to this type of work/printing. I was a silk screener previously so I've had the program experience but I've always had to convert my designs to positives for textile printing....
