What are some good gd associations to belong to? why?

If you want to be a good web designer, you need to learn code, or work with a someone who can do the coding for you. There is no way around it, so get learning.

Depends on the type of GD you do...
And what you want the association to do for you

The list below is by no means an endorsement for the groups specified.
Do your research to see what you get for your dues.

AIGA and GAG are the standards
If you do signage/large format/tradeshow you may want to look at ISA, SGIA, DPIA or similar.
If you do environmental design you might check out SEGD
For illustrators something like the Society of Illustrators maybe.

It might help to know the area you are looking to join up in too. Maybe there's someone in that area that's a member of local groups.

AIGA is expenssive for what they're offer. After I become a memeber, I got disappointed.

Unless you find a CS6 the answer would by no. You are at the mercy of your subscription to Adobe.
Also no telling how much longer they will support CS6.

The fee still works out to about...

Hi Beta boy and welcome to GDF.

We ask all new members to read very important links here and here. These explain the rules, how the forum runs and a few inside jokes. No, you haven't done...

Hi Miss and welcome to GDF.

You could look into Lynda.com. My library membership includes a free subscription, maybe yours does too? If not the monthly subscription fee is pretty affordable....

Lynda.com has a bunch of courses and tutorials. However it would be a monthly fee to subscribe to lynda.com and based on your Adobe post it doesn't sound like you want a monthly commitment.
