I have a client that likes to try lingo... she's printing postcards, she said 2up on an 8.5 x 11- so does that mean 2 cards per sheet, so 8.5 x 5.5? I haven't heard "2-up" in a looooooooong time.

yup, that's what it would mean where *I* work. We use the terms "2-up" and "2-out" interchangeably.
