Comment on How could I simplify a pattern tile with a lot of repeated mini squares?
Find a good large texture file of a fabric you like, Feather the edges, maybe even make it non-block-shaped.
By hand tiling, I mean placing the image multiple times so the overlaps don't show. That...

Thank you! I routinely have to get brochure designs turned around in a couple of hours. Twelve hours for a first proof? Zoinks.

How does a designer work for 12 hours on a brochure (which I'm assuming is a letter sized trifold) racking up a 1K bill without sending a proof first? I'm sorry, 12 hours is an AWFULLY long time for a...

  • Fancy title

    OK creatives...

I need to shorten my coworker's title to fit on a business card, and she wants somehting fancy (important sounding). Her title is... Customer Service Assistant and Data Entry Assistant. Any ideas?

People who live in glass houses sink ships.

How bout CSA/DEA that sounds important?!

    or Cuservant and Datryant?

Or you could just take out the first Assistant and the word Data... Customer Service and Entry Clerk Assistant?

Otherwise, I dont know what to do?

      How about "Assistant"?

I second CSA/DEA... sounds like SpecialOps/BlackHelicopter kinda stuff.

          1. An American "nick" name for me to use on the GDF.
          2. Designer, Developer, Carpenter, Painter, Sexy... just plain sexy.
          3. One that does not like green eggs and ham. Seriously, I have very strict breakfast rules.

Tell her to stop being greedy and pick one!
It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" Winnie the Pooh

                  Customer and Data Manager

This way, when she comes to ask for a raise, ask her what's she's done since becoming Manager that warrants it

That's why I chose "Idiot" for my title... no where to go but up

                      or Assistant Frank.

                        Why have both?
Customer Service sounds like that person answer the phone, Data Entry sounds like that person types said customer info into a computer.

So, Customer Service Assistant sounds better to me than Data Entry which sounds like somewhat belittling. Plus Customer Service not only sounds more important (in the idea that this person can handle the needs of the customer) but it also sounds like it could encapsulate Data Entry as well.
Just shorten Assistant to Ass. or Ass't or maybe even Customer Service/Data Entry Assistant.

Just get rid of title. Why do we have to have labels? Why do we have to put ourself in neat little boxes. We don't do job titles here, not on business cards not anywhere. You only limit yourself. Then you end up hearing, "it's not my job."
                          Less be more.

Definitely. Although some people have specialized roles and they shouldn't have to worry about what someone else does, if something needs to be done, it needs to be done. I experienced a ton of that apathy at the last job, and am still experiencing a bit of that here. I still believe that titles should be given though, at least to give those outside of the business the know-how of who to call or what you actually do.
