  • Show your portfolio to a freelance client?

    #1
I never thought about this until I was reading article at Graphics.com about desiging a portfolio. Does anyone here show their portfolio to freelance clients? Is it shown in the same presentation manner as you do when you go on job interviews?

It struck me as weird because I never thought about showing my portfolio to clients. They've all seen my web site and I wasn't really sure if I had to sell them the same way I do an interviewer.

    What do you do?

I don't have a website. So, yes I show them my portfolio.

Kickin' it old school. Alright. It just strikes me as weird becuase in my mind, the portfolio only came out when an interviewer wanted to see it closer. Freelance clients almost never cared.

I've shown my portfolio to potential freelance clients. I just structure it a little differently than I do for a job interview... but then, it does sort of change from job interview to job interview as well, depending on the position.

If you have a website, and your clients have seen it... I don't think showing them your portfolio would be necessary.

                      i don't even have a portfolio.
i use my website like a portfolio & when i have a meeting with a new client i try & bring samples of things that are like what they want.
i also have an 18"x24" clear plasitic sleeve that i keep a bunch of printed samples in behind the seat of my truck for that.."have you ever printed a widget?" time.

My website is my portfolio. If they ask to see specific things related to their requirements I can send samples of those too.
