I have yet to be successful in getting something to print feathered to complete transparency. What looks feathered from 100% to 0% onscreen ends up like 100% to ~5% or so and is obviously clipped at the image's edges.
When making a selection on an image in PS it's obvious that feathering doesn't work from the "inside" or "outside" of the selection so I figured it must work from the "center". Say I have a 4"x6" image at 100dpi (to keep the calculation simple) and want to feather at 50 pixels. I'd think that a 3.5"x5.5" centered selection would feather to 0% exactly at the images edge (since each boundary of the selection would be .25" away from the edge and feathering 50 pixels at 100dpi) but this is never the case on press.
Help?
