Hello again,
I posted here earlier asking what to do to build a portfolio, and someone gave me the idea to ask non-profits if they need graphic design work for free. I'm going to go ahead with this idea and I wrote up a quick email that I'll be sending out to 6 or 7 groups, but wanted to see if any of yous have advice in making this sound more professional or enticing...although free work is probably enticing enough, hahaha. Anyways, please let me know what you think. Thanks!
To Whom This May Concern,
My name is Christopher (last name) and I will be a senior this fall at (college) with a focus on graphic design. During this summer and my senior year, I will be contacting non-profit organizations, like yourself, and offering them my design skills without charge in an effort to expand my portfolio for when I graduate. I specialize in logos, business cards, event flyers, and essentially anything else related to advertisement and design. If you decide that this would be something you would be interested in, all I would ask for (only if you are satisfied with my work, of course) is a letter of reference, or to put your contact information down as a professional reference on my resume for once I begin to look for employment next summer.
I hope to hear from you!
Warm Regards,
Christopher (last name)
