hi guys. just wondering if anyone here knows how to make this effect in Illy. Its gotta do something with the line segment tool. just cant fig it out how. might be some plug-in or something. love the effect.
I think there is a plug-in but you can do it manually or with a math script. It looks like it was R&Rd then was clipped to shape after the fact using Pathfinder though.
its not a plug in guys, i can't remember how to do this though, one of my designer buds showed me this a couple years back, and I never had any use for it so it got deleted from my brains hardrive. but its not a plug in, i know that for sure.
Choose the line tool. Draw a line. In the stroke menu, give the stroke width you want. Now, delete the line. Draw another line, but this time, keep the mouse button held down and press and hold the ` key (the key at the top left, also has the ~ symbol on it) and start dragging your mouse around. The faster you drag, the wider the gaps become.

OOOOOO! Trippy... Thanks, that's a great little trick!
Edit: Is there a way to make the lines evenly spaced? I know I can hold shift, but I can only get the angles I have set in the preferences, and I don't think I can preset enough angles to get the same effect....

Crotch whiskers? LOL.
Not sure about style but they are just normal wear patterns you want to laser on the jeans (cool process btw).
As for doing them in Photoshop...my question to you is...
I just don't understand your reasoning for everything, especially on this latest card. Why the random shapes bleeding off the edge? Why is there so much space between your name and the "web, print,...
Which Gerber software?
Next question, why not import from Adobe to Gerber. We use signwares often. For output. Rarely for design (though some things are far easier to do in sgnwares over Illustrator...)
I do not believe there is Blur to Halftone button in Illustrator.
Any time I want to do a vector halftone (with dots), I use Rasterbator (bad name, good program)
But maybe what you are wanting...
