  • What to charge for PSD files

    #1
I have a client that I created magazine ads for (she owns the magazine) in the past. She just emailed asking what I would charge to the original PSD file. I have no idea what to charge, I told her in the beginning that I didn't give these out. But the magazine isn't doing so well and she wants to make updates herself, so what would I charge her for the PSD file?

We can't discuss specific pricing on the forum.

Did you have any kind of clause in your contract that would cover what they'd be worth should she want to purchase the original files?

Many on here also believe it's bad form to hold your files 'hostage'.

Oh, is there anywhere in the forum where that's allowed?

Wow Erica, you've been away for a awhile. The policy is explained here.

You might try going down to the local bookstore and sneaking a peek at a GAG Handbook (Graphic Artists' Guild). Or buy one online.

            PSD file? Imagery?
Not a whole magazine in Photoshop...

                  Which Gerber software?
Next question, why not import from Adobe to Gerber. We use signwares often. For output. Rarely for design (though some things are far easier to do in sgnwares over Illustrator...)

I do not believe there is Blur to Halftone button in Illustrator.
Any time I want to do a vector halftone (with dots), I use Rasterbator (bad name, good program)
But maybe what you are wanting...

I'm not going to bother saying what's already been said, I agree with it. I would suggest showcasing one area of interest per poster.

It's done by "hand". No plug-ins. No scripts. The designer uses their design skills to create ... um ... designs. Take a look at the video and links on this 2012 thread. All hand done from the...

Yeah, the hierarchy is an issue. The "ITD" and how it is rendered is more feint than the items surrounding it. The illustrations are nice, but unfortunately, not really important. I would not...
