  • Working on logo, worked with pen tool but still want to perfect image. Now What?

    #1
I have been working on this logo tirelessly for a long time in photoshop, then brought it into Illustrator to further perfect the curves, however they aren't perfect . What can I do to make this as professional looking as possible and less like an illustration? I was told the pathfinder tool, but I am not fluent in the tool, so if I use that how would I perfect the logo. If I shouldn't use it, what could I do? Thanks Everyone!

I'm sorry to have to say this but, practice makes perfect.
There is no easy way to expect perfection from a program you control with your hands and eyes.

That said, depending on how perfect you want those arcs, cut up circles with matching radii, stroke, outline path and unite.

Even for the outer rim? Wouldn't there be a way I could use a circle to overcome the slight imperfections on the outer edges?

for any of it. Basically all you have there is a pretty Yin Yang design.
Make a circle, draw the s-curve (or use two half circles, reversed), separate the two pieces with Pathfinder>Divide, add curliques.
        ?

Illustrator isn't about using a single tool. It's about using a combination of tools to make it do what you want. And honestly, it takes practice.

I really do love the design you chose to illustrate. Very artistic. What are you planning on merging this with?
It reminds me of the tattoo on my back.

Longer story behind it, just thought I would share!

Goya, I suggest this site for Illustrator tutorials to learn techniques that could help you: http://veerle.duoh.com/. She uses smart guides and other tricks to get really nice shapes.

I think the black stroke is killing you - making it look more like clipart. Get rid of the black, and clean up some of the curves (use less anchor points and rock out with the bezier handles) and you'll be good to go. Great job, keep up the good work.

why not do just one curvy half and mirror it? and yes at first clance the black outline made me think it was a clip art too

Wow, great input everyone. You have really shown me the light at the end of the tunnel! The logo is almost complete thanks to everyone's responses. I'll let you know how it comes out when it's finished .

Damn, I'm having a hard time keeping my mouth shut about the use of an ambigram tatt on your back. Who's going to be looking at it upside down? lol, I assume that part is just for the bedroom...
