well if it is only a minor blur, and i mean really minor, use Unsharp Mark, one of the things I like to do (of course im a huge fan of image restoration) is to use the clone stamp/healing brush and give yourself a moderately hard lined brush, and take out the 'blur' on the outside of the subject, then on the inside of the subject do the same thing, it basically eliminates the 'lines' that the blur creates, of course this is in an extreme case, post a pic when you get it, I would love to see how bad it is.

Another method to sharpen up a blurry photo is the hight pass method.

      1. Drag the layer to the new layer icon to duplicate the background.
      2. Go to filter>other>high pass and move the slider (takes some trial and error, but don't be afraid of going to far)
      3. Changet he duplicate layer's blending mode to overlay to see if teh effect looks right
      4. Either undo, and retry the high pass at a adifferent value or flatten image and save as

Nice trick, Jason. I usually use Unsharp mask, but it only works to a certain extent depending on the blurriness of the picture.

Yah you are out of luck, if high pass wont work, you better forget it... camera shake is nearly impossible to fix (I know, I am a photographer)

You could try a program called NeatImage. (It also reduces 'digital noise' when you shoot with high ISO settings or have a lower quality camera.)

I think they have a free trial on their site.

Unfortunately, these kind of programs and filters will only work on a picture that is 'nearly' in focus. If it looks obviously out of focus there is not much that can be done. Neat image does the best i have seen though. I use it instead of Photoshops Unsharp Mask.

              Hope this helps.

you could redraw the photo in illustrator and tell them that's as close to magic as you get...then hit them in the face with the flash from your polaroid camera...wouldn't be too annoying.

nice tips guys! i'll be stashing those away...
