  • Thoughts on zazzle?

    #1
I am thinking of starting an online store with zazzle. After doing a lot of research I think using a resource like them will be a lot easier for selling merchandise with my work as opposed to starting everything myself (at least in the short term).

Do any of you have good or bad experience with zazzle? (or something similar like cafe express)

I would love to hear any feedback you have. Thanks!

The only experience I've had with Zazzle was a bad one. Our band was trying to use them to create some shirts for us. All it had was our logo on it (which was designed by me). They kept telling is they couldn't produce the shirt because of copyright issues.

So we went to CafePress and they printed them no problem.

I am thinking of using them more as a store to sell, not as a means to get something printed for myself. I think strict copyright rules could be a good thing...but maybe not

I have a store there. The copyright isn't strict, if they don't recognise a copyright infringement on something and nobody reports it you'll get away with it. They are strict about certain tagwords though, like "twilight" (from some tv program I've never heard of). Einstein is another. You need to be up to date with what's permissible and what isn't. It can work very well, but it's a lot of hard work - a full time job - to make any money.

What do you think of the quality of the merchandise? (printing quality and quality of the merchandise itself)

Also, is most of the "work" you're talking about design work? marketing yourself? etc?

          Thanks!

I've only bought my own cards, which were good. They do have a guarantee though, and are pretty good at rectifying problems. The work is both - design, blogs, twitter etc. It's essential to become an active forum member there, or you'll miss out on a lot of info and promotion by others. I'm a bronze proseller there and it's taken me 18 months to reach that, that site is in a bit of upheaval at the moment with upgrades, but that's probably a good time to learn The advantage over cafepress is that you can set your own royalty and don't have to pay for a shop. Some things are a bit of a pain, but they probably are anywhere
