  • InDesign gradients for text?!

    #1
This may be a stupid question, BUT how do you get gradients for text (Adobe InDesign) to go north - south instead of east - west? Up and down instead of left to right? I cannot figure it out, but Im sure it can be done?! Thanks!

Double click the gradient box on your toolbox, or go to windows>gradient. after that click on the little triangle circle on the top right of the gradient palette, and choose show options....after that you should be able to adjust gradient direction

go to the tool palette. Select the gradient tool (it's the one above the scissors).
Click and hold the mouse button where you want the gradient to start, hold the mouse button while you drag the curser to where you want the grade to end. You will see a line connecting the start point to your curser. The gradient you created will be squashed into that line. You can start and stop it anywhere.
      Play with it

PrintDriver, that worked, Im a moron, I kept trying to figure it out using the gradient pulldown menu (Im on a PC BTW with InDesign CS) so on the triangle/cirlce button thing there is no show options, only hide options, but I got it, thanks!

Sorry D-Frag. I just checked Mac InD2 and it works the same way... Only the Grade tool is above the magnifying glass

That's it! I just tested it out but hit a road block. I can't see an option for Hidden in PDF but printable. I'm on CS5. Any ideas if they did away with this option or if it's somewhere else?

Looks very Saul Bass inspired... The typography isn't working very well. Listen do the advise above. Good luck Jah!

Go with "plastic" sheets as BJMR suggested. Your portfolio will feel dated within a couple of months and you want to upgrade it and customize it for certain jobs. You will get back your money...
