  • New logo

    Hello all,
I am creating a new logo after 40 years. We are a product development company - software and hardware engineering. Markets - In-flight Entertainment, Medical, Aerospace to name a few. We are a piece of a puzzle basically. We are consultants who help major companies (Boeing, Panasonic etc.) with there engineering needs. I am trying to think of an design that I can show and have cdi moving in to complete. Not a puzzle though something abstract.I have created ideas, but there just not that great. Would love some fresh minds here.

    Thank you!

Welcome trezabrown! We ask that all new members have a read through these important threads with our rules and FAQs and such.

Do you have any sketches or anything that you could show us that we could critique? If so you can post them in our Crit Pit for other members to comment on.

Otherwise feel free to post an ad in our Classifieds if you'd like to hire a designer. Most members here aren't too keen on giving ideas away for free, but are often willing to help in refining an existing concept.

Have you done any mind maps? Conducted any research? If you are taking on the logo design project, approach it just like any other logo design project (assuming you have done them before) - which means doing formal research even if you think you know and understand the company.

You can't really have the first steps done then hire someone to complete the final steps because that won't produce a quality logo. You should just hire a professional logo designer and save yourself the hassle.

Thank you. It's a good point that it's expected nowadays. I'll charge the tax on top of the flat rate and discuss it with the client when I send him the first invoice.

If you live in a place that requires that you collect sales tax on graphic design services, it really doesn't matter how you bill your clients as long as the tax is collected and paid. If you want to...

          JCookeDesign
I've always charged clients hourly and charge the Sales & Use Tax on top of that.

Just picked up a new client and we worked out a flat rate (x amount per design regardless of time)....

keming: thanks for the welcoming. I'm referring to all text in general, it looks like out of place. I don't know if I'm explaining myself correctly. It doesn't have that smooth feel to it, like it was...

That could be a good thing for people in the industry that give a damn, just another reason for someone to pay a little more for quality.
