  • Bitcoin. How to use it to accept donations?

    #1
    Hello.
    I am writing a blog.
I want to place a "Donate" button that would accept the Bitcoin currency.
Can I do this with free Wordpress.com account?
What blog provider would let me do this?

What would be the cheapest bitcoin miner to use?

I have no experience in web design and programming outside of old school C Prog. Lang. L so please provide me with details.

I am about to start a website for my non-profit organization and it would benifit me greatly to accept Bitcoin there. Pretty much I want to test this on my blog.

The organization website is likely going to be started as another blog.

(By using the word 'blog' I mean those web log hosts that offer a free pre-defined interface that can be easily updated with content of text and images.)

I am not very sure how it works though I did read the wikipedia article and the official webpage (one of them ).

    Thank you.

Is it safe to post my Bitcoin address that the Bitcoin wallet generates for people to donate to? Is Nokia QT Bitcoin Wallet a safe program to use? Does it take a percentage of transaction?

Do I read the account address string in the right place and is there any way I can transfer this string into a new client program if I ever have to get one?

You may be better off asking your first question on the wordpress.com forums. Perhaps there's a Bitcoin forum as well for the questions specific to that. By the lack of replies here, I'm guessing no one here knows anything about the Bitcoin thing. I've never heard of it.

I've never heard of it either. Most every donation button I've seen has been through PayPal.

I will ask on more dedicated forums.

I still think it is important to give donors an option not to feed Paypal with money that they don't deserve. I will place two 'Donate' buttons on my cause website.

How does PayPal not deserve the money it earns? They're providing a service, and it's not like it's exorbitantly expensive. Not everything is free.

                Well
This is why I will offer my donors a CHOICE.

Oh but it is exorbitantly expensive. Maybe not when you're getting money in the tens or hundreds. Their track record in other areas isn't very good either - like when something goes wrong or you get scammed as either seller or payer. But I won't get into that.
