  • New UC logo: FAIL!

    #1

The venerable University of California traded in its traditional logo for something modern, eliciting a New Media blast of derision. Some experts say the storm over the new UC logo will pass.

Wow. That C looks like a loading circle. Logo complete in 3... 2...

Nice. Engrave that logo on a plaque or embroider it on a hat and see how it works out...

“Whoever signed off on this UC logo should be forced to have it tattooed on their forehead for life.”

        agreed

Does anybody else think it looks like a 'flushing toilet'?

That was my initial thought, like someone flushed the toilet with cleaner still in the bowl while they were peeing in it after eating a lot of asparagus.

Somebody's trying to be too kewl and updated. That sure doesn't scream higher education to me, more like a school offering a minor in hemp production.

I notice they don't seem to name the design firm.
I'm also noticing that a lot of people seem to think the public reaction is 'trivial'.
Looks like a crowdsource thing to me.

                I'll play that game.

Or a design student at UC. When I was in school, our design department was tasked with redesigning the logo for the school's radio station. All the design students designed a logo and the station picked the one they liked. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened here.

I saw another article that said it's from an inhouse design team.

Now that the flushing toilet has been seen, it can never be unseen.

If it was a design class project, the professor should be ashamed of himherself.
