  • IiTunes 4.5 and iomega External CD/RW burner

    #1
I hope one of you guys or gals has an idea about this cause i'm at my wits end on this issue.

I'm just going to post what I sent to Iomega but if you have a solution... pelase pass it along

I have just purchased a new CD/RW drive (52x24x52) for my iMac running 10.2.8. The Mac will see my Drive fine and I can burn files but iTunes 4.5 will not allow me to burn CDs. It gives me a 'CD Burner or CD Software not found' messag'. when I look under iTunes Preferences Burning Tab it lists the ZipCD 650 (which I had previously). That is the only one listed and even if I disconnect the device... it still has that listed as the burner attached (which is strange also). I have thrown out the iTunes Preferences files... reinstalled iTunes. Everything I can think of and it will still not burn and it still recognizes it as a ZipCD 650. Have you heard of any similar problems and do you know a solution cause me next solution is to return it and get a different brand. If you can get back to me ASAP on this I would appreciate it. Thank you.

i've had a similar problem but it was with my cd burner on my pc at work.
did you install the software that came with the drive?
if not that, it may just not be compatible with itunes software yet...thats how mine was at work.

There are issues with OS10.3.3 (not your10.2.8) where some people had to reinstall the upgrade over the upgrade but sorry man, no one has a reference to your particular problem even at the MacFixit or Versiontracker sites. There were some entries stating other 'unable to burn' problems and double iconed drives in the system profile but nothing matched.
Will check em later in the week.

PD.. I actually returned it and got a Lacie (works great). I talked to a few other people that have had the same issue. Iomega insist it does work... but I know it didn't. It's iTunes 4.5... it isn't compatible with that drive yet. Eventually it will be when they update but why wait for it?

So your burning CD and have an Ipod. Why? That thing connects to anything.

Sith Designer - what LaCie drive did you get? I've been researching this - was going to buy a Zip burner, glad I didn't. I also have 10.2.8 and itunes 4.5
Any other pointers to installing drive?

                        Thanks

                          $119.00
Featuring the industry's highest recording speed, LaCie's d2 52x32x52x CD-RW can burn a full CD in less than 3 minutes. The drive is ideal for storing large graphic, audio and video files.

got it from the apple store...works like a charm.

If you have tape player in the car you can use one of the headphone to tape adaptors.

I think that if you made the faded background image on top a different colour (match a shade of the bottom colour maybe?) the image on the left will work - its actually a nice idea.

The shapes are very confusing. If it hadn't been pointed out that the left side had a running persons silhouette I would never have figured it out. It just looked like some weird shapes to me at first.
