  • Names put into personalised images?

    #1
I'm not a very design knowledgeable person so any help would be appreciated and I'm sorry if this is a basic question!

Does anyone have any ideas about what is used to create these type of personalised images. Such as a persons name in fireworks or written in the sand: http://www.gettingpersonal.co.uk/per...ar-classic.htm

Is is just done in Photoshop or something or will they have designers custom making their own fonts to fit?

It's automated. You'll see it used in targeted direct mail where hundreds or thousands of these are sent out for a campaign. Getting a designer to do this manually is not cost effective except for small one offs.

I don't really know what goes into automating it, but I assume the base graphics are produced, then the software adjusts position and angle for the final image. So one for each letter.

It's a batch process, set up within a variable data entry system.
You can probably set it up right within photoshop but I'm betting the companies that do this have dedicated software that makes it totally automated.

That looks a pricey way about it!

Not if you are in business and doing 100's of names a day.
ROI is ROI. If you don't get the return on investment, do it the long way.

I used to work at a company that offered a service similar to this. We developed our own proprietary software that did the automation. I'm not familiar with any consumer software available that could do this.
