When you work with a client, do you literally have a contract for them to sign?

Yes, that way it is all explained what is expected etc. It is also not as easy as it sounds, as I am on about my 4th revised contract on about my 20 something client, I am constantly learning what is required, what works for me, what doesnt etc.
There is a good thread if you search for it on this site that shows you 4-5 different example contracts that you can get a start with.

Commented to Another DrawingIn regards to style I think it looks...well messy. It reminds me of something you would get doing autotrace. Strange shapes curves etc. I personally would like more hair like shapes. Nice smooth tapering...
