  • Manually separated

    #1
I am patting myself on the back today after manually separating from scanned negs. My client only had an old set of separated negs that had been used in the past to create his logo. No original art and no digital files.

The problem was that the art was 2 color, partially a screened grayscale and partially solid color.

The headache was separating the grayscale that was tightly registered to the solid color fonts. Ugh! and then blurring the grayscale without affecting anything else so that it wouldn't get a moire effect. To top it off, the grayscale then had a second grayscale gradient in another color to tint over the black.

Anyway, after 3 hours, I managed to get all separated and registered and ready to go to a digital rip for re-screening.

I like challenges and puzzles, but this one will keep me for a while.

Could you have scanned the stuff in, then just re-drawn them in Illustrator?

Just wondering if there are others out there who have the same problems as me. Sometimes when a client comes to me for a design and I'll send them my CB to fill out, after that there are times when I...

Not fun enough. It sorta says drunk shuffle. Or wonky bowling pins. I imagine it more like a kids' hand painting but with feet stamps. Just shit everywhere. In that space above the type, in lovely contrast...

There are other things to be considered with barcodes. I deal with them on a daily basis. Line width, quiet zones, and other factors play a big part in whether or not the code will scan.
