since I know a lot of you are smarter than me ;o)

is there anything beyond file size that affects the time it takes from when i hit print on the computer to when the printer actually spits it out?

i'm working on a Mac. OS 10.3.9 printing on an HP 4600 using Photoshp CS

any hints beyond "making the file size smaller" would help.

I've searched on google to no avail and photoshop help didn't really "help"
    ;o)

Increase the memory in your printer, update your print driver, create a PDF of the document then print it... Some ideas, good luck!

Make sure the image is flattened and depending on how big the file is, reduce the resolution/size.

Im guessing your only printing it to check colours/etc? So full res may not be nescessary?

Depending on your printers post-script capabilities, we print it to a post script file and reopen it and then print. It reduces the time by at least 75%.
