  • Opaque White Ink???

    #1
whats the best way to get the most opaque white ink...
is it to use UV White?

problem is, i've got a Clear PS label that is being applied to a Black Surface. Which requires there to be Opaque White as an underlay for the other colors to show up on the black Surface. In the past i've always used UV White Ink to do this, wether its a Clear PS label or if its acting as a "cover up" when going on something like Silver Mylar.

but this time around the UV White seems to be just as opaque as regular Water based White...

are there some Variables that i am missing here?
I heard that the Size of Analocks used on the press can determine how thick the ink is layed down, is this true?

Any Info on this would be great!!!

I worked for a sticker company for 3 and a half years, we did stickers on clear a lot, and had tremendous trouble getting printers to understand that we wanted an OPAQUE white. No matter what ink they tried, it was never truely opaque. We went to doing double hits of their most opaque white ink. I think it was UV White, but can't be certain (I just got to draw the pretty pictures, die lines, white plate layers etc).

Try installing them with Fontbook, not by dragging them to a folder. Just a guess.

You can use muted tones, so a little less than black, muddy any clear colours a bit. As for eroding lines and fills, I'd probably stay away from it in vector files as it never looks quite right in vector....

Sorry, there's really no way to protect yourself without a signed contract. This is why a designer shouldn't do any work until it's signed. I guess you can put your samples on a spec sheet with terms...
