We have 5 apple computers, on two of those computers we have a problem cutting and pasting .tifs from illustrator to photoshop. The .tif loses its transparency, and pastes with a white matte. It works fine on our other computers. Does anyone know what preference or setting controls this?

Not to ignore the question, but I'm curious why you're cutting and pasting a TIFF from Illustrator to Photoshop. I suppose if it's embedded I could understand ... but even then it seems a little odd.

      Maybe it's just me.

I had to wonder why cut and paste also, Craig. I thought I'd get a drift on the "5 Apple" computers first and pick up the level of the users.

The designs we're copying and pasting are comprised of both .tif lineart and vector art. We're running OS 10, Illy 10.0.3 and PS 7.0. I've got identical apple pcs that treat .tif files differently.

And you no longer have the source file of the TIFF line art? And when you say it loses it's transparency are you saying that the whol TIFF has a transparency to it (50% or whatever) or are you saying that the TIFF has been perhaps masked in Illustrator to allow what's behind to show through?

I'm just trying to make sure I understand what's happening.

If the client in any way indicates that they are still undecided on which designer to higher, or if they're just looking for a quote, don't do any design work. If they want to see "what ideas you...

Please don't send me a logo file (with no additional specs) and then question why I'm not using the right Pantone color for your branding. I'm using what you sent me, and that's the color specified in...

Maybe your questionnaire is too comprehensive or the questions are too much? Try to keep it as simple as possible. Just the most important information....

Why don't you create a separate document for the order with details about order / date/ number of proofs and dates, and approval date. And send this document with the proof when needed.

I'm with the speak and meet consensus. I don't have a survey. For me meeting/speaking has always been more effective.

That being said, if the receipt of your questionnaire seems...

                  Hmm. Good point.

Yes, I always tell them that I have a questionaire for them and they seem like it never bothers them. It's when they receive it that they seem to just "disappear."...
