  • 17 tri fold template with lip

I have been trying to located a template that shows where the fold marks should go when doing a tri fold with an extended lip on one side. The center panel is the front. Anybody have any ideas how to set this up?

I'm not sure why you need a template. Just get a sheet of paper, cut it to the size you want, fold it up the way you want it, measure where the folds are, then reproduce those measurements in InDesign.

If you're having your job professionally printed, you can ask what the panel sizes should be. At a bare minimum, make sure you have enough bleed to allow them to add a bit of width to the front panel. For a trifold, I create an InDesign document with 6 pages, each sized for the correct panel width - this makes alignment in each panel much easier. Printco has a good folding guide here: http://www.printcographics.com/pdf/d...cket_guide.pdf

Design-wise, it's also good to avoid dictators on each panel (artwork aligned to folds). These little things can make a big difference in how your folding document comes out.

I can't give you the exact recipe for creating textures like you've shown because they were all created, as you just mentioned, using various filters, brushes, and other tools in Photoshop.

Alright! I'm just planning to use these textures in my personal art projects for the time being. I don't particularly want to get in the habit of doing things "wrong" but don't have to worry...

i think i agree. i see it as too many of cooks in the kitchen. we all get along as co-workers, but we each have our own style and ownership of our own set of projects.

              i don't think it sounds...

First you have to determine if doing them in photoshop is the correct route to take. For instance, if you are creating a logo, using photoshop (and these textures in general) would be a bad idea.
