  • Inkjet, glossy, adhesive paper for printing stickers?

    #1
I THINK these two products will do what I think I need them to:

    HP 42"x75'

Am I correct in assuming that the Oracal media is more expensive not only for its size (164 feet vs 75 feet), but also because it is advertised as being very resilient to outdoor usage?

I basically need some adhesive-backed, glossy sticker paper that I can print full-color images with good quality using my Epson 1100.

Would anyone with experience buying this stuff be willing to weigh in?

    Thanks dudes and dudettes.

      1. You are using an Epson. Epson inks usually hate HP products.

      2. Oracal media should have a list of what inks it accepts. I highly doubt Workforce Durabrights will be on the list.

      3. Your Epson Workforce 1100 only takes 13" x 19" sheets. No roll stock. That is assuming you meant the Workforce you linked to and not some wider format printer.

      4. Aqueous inks (waterbase) and outdoors = runny mess. Even if you overlam them you will eventually get edge bleed. If your ink smears if you spit on it, don't even think of using it outdoors. Do not sell it as an outdoor product.

Farm out the work to someone with an ecosol printer. I learned long ago not to use aqueous inks outdoors no matter what the media rep says. It was a very sad and very expensive experience.

PrintDriver, thank you for the response! Let's see if I can explain myself clearer, as I fear I've misrepresented myself.

        3. I realize the Epson only accepts 13x19 sheets. If, however, there is a sticker media that will print well with it then I am more than willing to buy it in roll form and manually cut and trim what I need.

        4. So you're saying there is no sticker media that will print well with the aqueous inks used by my Epson 1100?

Thank goodness I'm not trying to put together an outdoor product. I'm a student that was hoping to create some mock labels for my student portfolio show. My goal was to simply print out my designs on sticker paper, cut them out, and apply them to some blank bottles I have. Since it appears that there is no sticker media that will play nice with my home printer, can you think of any other solutions or workarounds that you would try?

I really appreciate your insight. Thanks!

If its just something you need to do once you may try a site like http://stickerobot.com/

They do silkscreen stickers so if color accuracy is deathly important or if you have low cmyk values (like 0 5 5 0) they aren't very likely to come through. Might be a better quality and more cost effective option though.

Just go to an office supply store, get some paper adhesive back labels, and have them heat lammed, or ask them to overlam them with a 2mil glossy lam for you.

Every time I've tried to put HP products through an Epson desktop inkjet either the colors are way off, they are faded or the bleed out. You may have better luck but request a sample before committing to an entire roll.

If using precut paper, no bleed or trim.

Unfortunately I don't have access to any other programs, gah. Question about crop marks...are they necessary? This may sound like a silly question, but for the invitations, the design itself is very simple...
