I had a hard time at first trying to find what the heck I was supposed to click on. Are there only two links? That was all I found.

I liked the odd layout other than the links/buttons didn't stand out much at all. Maybe even more color might make the sight more dynamic (without music?).

What is the point of the intro (for that matter what are the points of any intro)? It doesn't really lead into the main site, it just takes up my time with info that could be presented faster and in a less boring/time consuming manner (I can't stand slow animations, sorry).

The portfolio presented on the computer is a nice idea, but I just don't see how it relates to the rest of the site. The site has a nice dynamic urban feel to it, and then the portfolio is just a flat line drawing of a computer? Why couldn't it be a a building that is zoomed out to see many windows with your artwork in them that you click on and zoom in for a better look? Something to tie into your main page and give it a completed site type of feel.

The music bar and e-mail info and such on the side I believe could be aligned along some of the edges of your layout shape and *might* turn out better, I stress might.

Otherwise the site is layed out rather pleasingly (although the scripty font bugs me). Don't take any of this the wrong way, there are plenty of good things happening on the siteI just tend to write about things that bug me (personally).


And just to add, I don't really care for the music. But for that matter I really don't care for any music on any website.

Seems like it would be a great site, but you lost with with the loading of the site. It took entirely too long andI'm on a corporate LAN/T1.

Hi Christian, as said previously I like your layout and also your usage of line (although I can see you developing on it in the future somewhat) especially with the colour selected in the site. It is very clean and crisp, yet the links to your CV and portfolio don’t reflect this quite like your design does. Maybe integrating the CV & portfolio into your shape more (as said previous) will give it a better structure which in turn would strengthen navigation of the site making it function more efficiently and complete instead of just two pages that don’t seem to bond exceptionally well??? (I like the window idea stated above a lot I feel it would make it seamless and will give it more substance as one page)

The portfolio is a little thin at the mo, and some work specifically the second job does seem to be a poor imitation (not a progression) of graphics such as displayed on GTA, (the Play Station game).
But I do like the range of work, it shows that you can turn your hand to the problem thrown at you directly and don’t just bastidise your fixed progressive idea/style of design to fit a brief.

I do like the way you have introduced yourself in the intro, but the obvious is also very true, it does takes ages to load and this could hamper it being viewed at all.


Anyway fella, looks cool and hope it progresses well for you.

What I really like:

The first bit of the intro, with the leaf falling & raindrops and the way the sound fits with it.
The style of the site.
Your portfolio.



What I really don't like:

The ads at the top and bottom pretty much ruin the whole thing. Hosting space without ads is really cheap so there's no excuse.
The intro takes so long to load I think many people would give up. Make it shorter. Much shorter.
Some of the navigation is flawed. For example, when looking at a portfolio item I can't find a way to go back to the first view (without clicking back on the keyboard image again).

PS - very stylish images, the pace of the site is very dramatic - focus on maintaining that tension across the whole of the site and you'll find that a number of the areas with which you are uncomfortable will assume their places in the over all theme. Great Start!

No Matter Where You Go... There You Are.

I really like your use of Flash, it is inspiring. I do agree that the intro was hard to load and I'm not sure it had enough meaning to warrant that kind of time. But it is a lot cooler than my boring website!

I'm sorry to be critical. But I will try and and make this constructive:

1. Anyone viewing your site must be patient. OK that's vague, put yourself in the seat of a potential viewer (employer)

Loading.....Loading.....Loading......

You are not offering anything to the user right from the word go - I think this is essential, and will ensure 'stickyness' if you have to load an intro/splash.

2. Music - NOOOOOOOOoooooooo! Bad idea! (IMHO) offer music, maybe, but don't auto load it! much of your potential traffic is lost here. Imagine you are at home listening to your favourite CD or in a quiet office (me) and your music...... not good.

3. Low useability - you need to highlight you navigation. It's there, but even us designy types had to search. It doesn't need to be blatant, but dont make 'joe bloggs' hunt! EVER!

4. Screen width/resolution - My monitor is set to 1152 X 864 and I still get a horizontal scroll bar. The largest % of users are still using 800X600 - test your site on a lower res - The maximum width I'd set you pages to is 760 px - this allows for low res setting and the MS toolbar.

5. the rendering of the monitor and keyborad lets you down - why not use the interesting perspective line art as seen in your intro?

Apart from those points you have the basis for a very nice portfolio - especially some of the illustration. Keep at it.
