Why would you expect anything other than amateur level on your first attempt?

It looks like someone's first crack at something like this. So you are on par.

I think the Escher attempt is a mistake, making it messy.
At this point you've got 3 colors (three shades of gray).

How does it work in just black?

It's a part of your printer driver setup, not your Flexi. It may be a setting in the manual interface. Does the machine have an onboard interface or is it all set up through the driver? If it has an interface,...

You aren't going to see a lot of difference between matte AQ and the finish of the paper itself. You would be better off leaving the majority of the brochure uncoated and going with a spot gloss UV on...

Hi...can anyone recommend a free good print to pdf program for OSX?

    ???

The Full version of Adobe Acrobat with Distiller.

OS X has a built in print to PDF ability though. It's nothing fancy, but it's fine for creating basic PDFs.

No, sorry. i misread the first post, but once again, in OSX when you go to print you can save as PDF for free.

This screenshot is form my Mac running OSX 10.3 ... it looks a little different in 10.4. Just click on the PDF "button" at the bottom of your print dialog.
