  • Online proofing solution?

    #1
We are looking for a new way to provide soft copy proofs. Up until now we have been e-mailing PDF proofs with a proof slip that the customer can either fill out electronically or print, sign, and fax back.

That works, but we're looking for something more streamlined, and something that takes the least amount of work for the customer.

I'm interested in finding out what others are doing and what they like and don't like about it.

Our printer tried to make us use "Insite" a software program by Kodak for proofing. We hated it and have vetoed it's use as it fores users to proof on screen.
But maybe it would work for some of yours?
Here's a thread where we all chatted a bit about it.

Well, we always do hard copy proofs as the final proof, but we'd like a way to be able to do initial proofs online.

      I'll check that out. Thanks.

We use something called "right signature". https://rightsignature.com/

Less work than opening a PDF?

Less work than them opening it, printing it out, and faxing it back. A lot of our customers can't grasp the concept of a PDF that you can fill out electronically.

Personally I don't have a problem with the way we do it now, but the boss wants me to look into it...

We don't require a signature. The client can confirm a file to print or advise of corrections any way they see fit. A simple email reply of "Ok to print" is sufficient.

But I'm not the US so things may be done a bit differently here.

I personally set up a private link on my website for them to view but Im a one man show with limited jobs so I dont know how well this would work for volume jobs. They reply to the email I send with the view link with any changes or the A okay for print. People do seem to have trouble with PDF's. I could even set up a view gallery through my print site too.

I use Wordpress so it takes no time at all to set up a webpage with web copies of the work. My site is responsive so they can easily view and approve right from their phone.
