  • Logo Critique for me TOO!

    #1
    Hello!

Below are some roughs for my personal logo, mainly just type treatment. The ones at the very bottom are the various options I came up with, I decided to go with the one on the top right of the bottom portion. Then the top is that logo, with various color combos. I can't make up my mind on the color schemes, and thats where I would like some feedback. If you guys have any feedback on anything else that would be great too, as this logo is in the beginning of the refining stage.

Hey Ally, I'm liking this mark its got quite an appealing look, the name is great as well...very memorable. So far as coloring goes I'm going to say number 2 or 4. The grey and orange combo is always quite nice, and isn't overdone, but the colors for number 2 is a subtle combination that I've heardly ever seen. This could be a nice choice, reasearch a little more and make sure I'm right on people hardly using it

Good job, if you wouldnt mind, care to share the creative process that lead you to this, the creative thinking behind it.

I'm a huge sucker for pink/grayscale combo - so I like the second one from the bottom.

Yeah, I like number 4 and you could do alot with the mark. Sometimes simpler is better, I wish more people understood that.

I'm all for the grey & orange one. You had to know I would go for grey...lol.

Anyway - the name is nicely memorable, I like the mark and can see how it could be used in a number of ways.

I like the very last row first column (pink and grey with the dot) or the one right above it. I used to use orange for my identity, but if you use process printing at all it can look "dirty"

            Very nicely done.

              Thanks guys

Drorain: I have a very scatterbrain process!! I've actually been trying for the past half year to come up with something. I knew I wanted something simple, memorable, and kind of bold (as far as the mark goes). For my own logo, I didn't want an illustration of something, and opted for type treatment instead. If I have some time, I'll be glad to put up the process behind this

Personally, I'm inclined toward the grey and pink as well. I find myself using hot pink in a lot of my personal pieces, but I dont know if using it in a logo might give the impression that my work is too "girly"?

I also dont know if the typeface I chose for "CreativeFallout" is the right one. I feel the mark, since it's heavier, throws off whole logo? What do you guys think? Sorry If I'm not making sense :/ !!

I don't get that feeling at all but try the text a little heavier and see how it looks.

Just as long as you overpower your pieces with pink, I don't think you will give that impression.

Ally I know what you mean on taking a while to create your own identity, I started mine in college, dropped it, then picked it up again. So I'm happily married to 'PowderKeg Graphic Design'.

I like the font choices, the lighter fonts arent overpowering the most important part...the mark itself

I had the same worries when I redesigned my identity last year. I LOVE me some pink and especially with red, so I went for it. (You're welcome to look at my site, it's in my user profile). I was so afraid that I went too girly or too "fun" -- but even my corporate clients appreciate "fun" it turns out. And I have a LOT of male clients, probably more than female. So the pink didn't turn anybody off; in fact, my business has picked up quite a bit since the switch (not sure if that's a correlation, but it doesn't seem to have hurt me none.)

I think the point is, your logo is an expression of YOU. People can argue that your logo should appeal to your target audience and not *just* please you, but I disagree to some extent. If you love your identity, you'll generally have a more ethusiastic attitude when you put it out there (you'll feel good about it, and that will show through). Also, your ideal clients should be people that like YOU and your style, so don't be afraid to show it.

That's my philosophy, I'm stickin' to it.

I think the style you came up with is great. They all look pleasing to the eye.

I was more concerned with more of the psychological implications of the logo. Do you think maybe the word in your name "Fallout" may subconsciously have some people think of your company as unstable? Plus, you have the word 'fallout' in color, which further draws attention to this. As well, the orange you use in one of the logo examples is quite an 'excitable' color, and i don't think it would be wise to use it for the word 'fallout'.

But of course you're probably not about to change the name. Which I personally think is a great, kick ass name for a design company.

Maybe colorize the word 'creative' with a deep red and leave the word 'fallout' in a grey.

                          My 2 cents.

You know, I had the same concerns with the name. It makes sense to me, but I had the feeling it might have a negative effect on people. But after really looking into it, I thought It would work.

Here's the definition according to dictionary.com:

                            Main Entry: fall·out
                            Pronunciation: 'fo-"laut
                            Function: noun
1 : the often radioactive particles stirred up by or resulting from a nuclear explosion and descending through the atmosphere; also : other polluting particles (as volcanic ash) descending likewise
2 : descent (as of fallout) through the atmosphere

So I see Creative Fallout as the effects of a creative explosion; disseminating creativity.

Last one, bottom right. I like single colour logos. I dont mind second column second row though.
