  • Logo Review for New Online Company

    Hello All--

I'm new here and not a graphic designer by trade. I have an idea for an online company that I want to validate without spending lots of money -- so I'm just going to mock up something attractive and get it online. If it is successful, I'd like to hire a real designer to cement the brand.

That said, I've come up with a simple logo design. Any thoughts or ideas for improvement?

I like it! I LOVE that color. It's vibrant and modern and unique -- reminds me of a color my dad would use for fishing things. (Whatever those things are called.)

I don't really know exactly what your business is about just from looking at this, but it does say "digital" to me.

Question -- is this a font that you've modified? There's something slightly off about the "s" and the "c" -- I want to make them a bit less perfect and more like the rest. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the feedback, EC! I really appreciate it. The color took a LONG time to find, so I'm glad it comes across well.

This is a font that I modified slightly. I changed the kerning of all the letters, and I modified the "i" and the "t" quite a bit. But, I didn't change the "s" or the "c." Maybe I should tweak those to make them a bit more imperfect. Nice thought!

The company is online based. It is a monthly subscription service -- each month members are mailed two plays by an emerging playwright. The mailing also includes information about the playwright, interviews, etc. And, each month we partner with a theatre somewhere in the US that is producing that work to provide insight into how it is produced (i.e. production photos).

I think a "real designer" could definitely work with what you have here. It's always good when a client gives an idea of what they're looking for and what they are trying to accomplish in mockups. Kudos on that!

As far as the color schemes, I definitely prefer the first over the second. Mostly because I don't understand the reasoning behind differentiating colors in the P and D. Definitely like the vibrant color, though.

Recently I contacted a printer manufacturer to request ICC profiles for their printers.

            Here's what they wrote:
