  • Crest Logo Thing.

Thoughts on this? I've never done a crest before. The type and DG bit aren't final.

Either its optical or intentional, but the ribbon looks squashed.

The arch of the ribbon looks chopped off. A clean curve would look cleaner.

The black shape looks like it was cut away on the sides, not sure if that is your intent.

I like the faux gryphons. Have you considered adding some detail to them? Perhaps some line work? (While keeping in mind print limitations, of course.)

Though creativity is usually nice, I would urge you to keep the sheild's shape relatively simple.

You have enough complexity going on with the gryphons and banner, no need to add more with an over-designed sheild.

Look at some heraldry -look at some Japanese heraldry too.
The overall gyst it to make it simple and easy to recognize -much like a logo.

Thanks for the replies. I had to rush off earlier so I didn't really have a chance to explain it. I've been doing some research into what I want as a personal logo, and I've decided I want to make a crest type thing. So I want to create something which is quite ornate but also simple enough to be used as a logo. Now the problems I have with this one are pretty much what has already been said, the ribbon curve isn't smooth and the shield is an odd shape. I think I will add some line work to the gryphons as was previously mentioned. Also, I like the idea of having "graphic design" in the ribbon, but I can't think of any way to do it without being too small to be lost at small sizes.

Make it bigger, and move it lower?

Makes for a foreground, mid ground, and background element.

Alright clever cloggs. I'll do this one tomorrow when I've finished my scary charity's logo :P
