Website Critique - Any thoughts?

Below are a couple early mockups that I have done on a new website that will provide product and services across a spectrum of frequently used items on a membership basis.

Obviously the mockups are not yet complete, but before I go much farther I wanted to get some other experienced eyes on it. The bottom section will contain footer navigation and the top sections will include dropdown menus for those who want to drill down.

Any critiques (both good and bad) are welcome as I am looking to do this right the first time.

Please let me know your thoughts!

The italic text under the subheads... is it necessary?
It's a bit hard to read and clutters up the page...

The colours seem to be working out okay for you.

On the sub page... the navigation seems to move from the top to sub-nav on the left. Any way you can work that into the top nav as a drop down or something?
I'm not a fan of when the nav moves around like that.
However, that said, I know that sometimes there are not alot of other options depending on complexity.

I have had more time to explore the new forum features and will add a bit to this. After the results are loaded you will be presented with a list of posts that look like the graphic below with some icons...

As a printer, if I change a file for a design client, I know the color won't shift. But. If the design client sends an entirely new file, I check it to be sure the color won't shift. There are so many...

Todays Posts, New Posts problem solved (Sorta)

Thanks to Scribe and Longboy we have a couple of pretty effective workarounds. First create a couple of new bookmarks/favorites in you browser toolbar. Then add the following links to your new bookmarks....

New Graphics Designer

This is something I made in my free time.

I'm not planning on going to art school or anything like that, but I still like drawing and designing, so I'm planning on doing it as a side thing....
