  • Logo for horse classifieds site

    #1
I'm reworking the logo on one of my domains. The concept of the site is changing from an overall "community" feel (with forum and other things) to strictly a classifieds site, so I'm trying to reflect that in the logo. Suggestions are welcome. Here are 2 concepts.

It's a little slick for a barrel racing horse trading site.

You need to hint at country-western without really doing it.

Or you could go all the way with a distressed wood type font. Which might be cool.

Take a look at Font Mesa, or Letterhead Fonts.

Seems like it needs to be "modern retro / historic".

Excuse me if I'm being a little naive here, but what is the swing taggy thing in aid of?

The tag thing instantly reminded me of Best Buy.
I agree the 2nd one has more promise than the first.

But if you are going to shadow drop your lettering - you should shadow drop your tag. It looks a bit weak at the moment. I'm not sure in having the .net in the tag itself. I think putting "classifieds" in the tag would work better and bring better definition to the main focus without being overbearing.

I think you need to develop the concept a little more.

The shape does look a bit like best buy. What about doing something a little more old school with the design. I remember your website designs to be very tactile. What about a style something like this where the elements make an oldworld sign?

look around in the gallery, there's many examples.

I believe she put the tag there in meaning of "sale" aka referring to the sale of items through her site's classified ad listings.

I like the newer version much better, my only concern is the horse looks a lot like a pig. In fact, the name "running" contradicts with such a "porky" horse but I get the whole tie in with a piggy bank

I thought it was a pig before I read it and looked closer.

It's much better, like the .net on the tag, but your horsey needs some work.

Well...for the name "runninghorse" it doesn't look like that horse has ever done much running lol. He looks squatty and fat...kinda like part horse, part troll....it looks a lot like a piggy bank to me as well.

I liked the #2 of all of them actually...it has promise just needs to be developed a bit more.

The horsey isn't running and it looks like a little piggy (bank, I know).

It's a good concept, though. Keep working it.
