Thanks. I've reworked it a bit and tried lifting the whole word because there seems to be too much white space to the left of the inspection services:

I still have some trapped white space problem though inside the chains.

Reduce those to the size they'd be on a business card. I have a feeling the chain is just going to fill right in.

What's your thoughts on the concept and design though? (try to ignore the practicality issues, I just want to know I'm along the right lines before I start tweaking everything only to find, actually, it's crap anyway!)

I quite like it. I'm glad you went with 5 from the first round and I'm glad you ditched the magnifying glass.

I've done a little alteration and I'm not sure now which is best suited. I like this one best but I'm not sure if the whole text being lifted gives it a bit of an ominous feel, rather than a sturdy feel like the previous one (the white space between Lifting and Inspection was really bugging me)

I like this one best. You could even have a secondary logo with the hook attached to a 2pt solid line for use in print for things like letterheads when you don't want the logo just plonked on the page.

I actually like it with just the one word lifted instead of both but then again, it also gives it more of the meaning. I like both ideas

Great post I like how you went with the concept that best resembles the logo. Only thing I would do different is get ride of the detail reflection on the hook. The more iconic the better. Also since you have the concept down now play with the angles. Either way thanks for sharing and good job!
